Privacy Policy

FILus ("we", "us", "our") is a social platform built exclusively for Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) and their families. This Privacy Policy explains what personal data we collect, how we use and protect it, and your rights under the Philippine Data Privacy Act of 2012 (Republic Act No. 10173).

1. Personal data we collect

When you use FILus, we may collect the following:

• Account information: full name, email address, profile photo, host country, occupation, and (optionally) your OWWA membership number.
• User content: posts, comments, private messages, photos, videos, and stories you upload.
• Device & technical data: IP address, device type, browser, operating system, and pages visited.
• Location: only when you tap the SOS button or use travel features. We never track you in the background.

2. How we use your data

• To create and manage your FILus account.
• To display your posts and content to other users according to your privacy settings.
• To send notifications (account, security, friend requests, OWWA advisories).
• To improve the app, detect spam and scams, and keep the service secure.

We never sell your personal data to third parties.

3. Who can see your data

• Other users can see your public profile (name, photo, country) and any posts you mark public.
• Private messages are only visible to the sender and recipient.
• Our backend (Lovable Cloud / Supabase) stores your data securely; only authorized FILus systems can access it.

4. Data storage & security

• Passwords are hashed and never stored in plain text.
• All database access is protected by Row Level Security (RLS) policies.
• Data is hosted on Supabase infrastructure with encryption in transit (HTTPS) and at rest.

5. Third-party services we use

• Supabase — database, authentication, and file storage.
• Google OAuth — optional "Continue with Google" sign-in.
• Anthropic / Google AI — powers the AI Coach, Contract Reviewer, and Scam Detector (only the message text is sent, never your identity).
• Google AdSense — serves ads on public pages and may use cookies to measure performance. See Google's ad policy.
• Google AdMob (mobile app only) — when you use the FILus iOS or Android app, we may show ads via Google AdMob. AdMob may use your device's Advertising Identifier (IDFA on iOS, AAID on Android) to deliver personalized ads and measure performance. You can reset or limit ad tracking at any time in your device settings (iOS: Settings → Privacy & Security → Apple Advertising; Android: Settings → Google → Ads).

6. Your rights as a data subject

Under RA 10173 you have the right to:

• View the personal data we hold about you.
• Correct inaccurate or outdated information.
• Delete your account and all associated data.
• Download a portable copy of your personal data.
• File a complaint with the National Privacy Commission (NPC) of the Philippines at privacy.gov.ph.

7. Cookies

FILus uses cookies only to keep you signed in (session cookies). We do not use third-party tracking or advertising cookies on the core app. Public pages may display Google AdSense, which uses its own cookies — you can manage these at adssettings.google.com.

8. Compliance

FILus complies with the Philippine Data Privacy Act of 2012 (Republic Act No. 10173) and its Implementing Rules and Regulations.
